Rimfire Colombard
There's no going past the wonderfully pungent, fresh aromatics of this wine. Rimfire Colombard is highly regarded for its highly fragrant, juicy pineapple character which floods the nose and palate. Passionfruit is the next most obvious element, supported by hints of lime, kiwifruit, apple and the fresh, zingy aromas of grassiness and lemon zest. The flavours are full, juicy, cool, ultra-lively and very long – the piercing freshness is long-lived on the palate.

Colombard originated in the Charente district of France. Once the second most planted grape in California , today Colombard is rarely found as a varietal wine.

If you enjoyed Rimfire Colombard try Rimfire's classy rosé Tinta or the deliciously fresh citrus characters of our Unoaked Chardonnay.

Rimfire Musque
This is a medium dry wine made from wonderfully aromatic white grape varietal Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains. The nose gives a sensation of sweetness and floral musk/rose characters highlight the spicy orange blossom notes found in the finished wine. Intense, delicate, fruitiness lingers on the palate finishing crisp and clean. Serve with delicate foods, so as not to overpower the charming aromatics of the wine. Enjoy Rimfire Musqué with fine friends, food and conversation.

Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains (which translates as ‘ Muscat with small berries) is possibly the oldest and noblest wine grape varietal. It was established in France by the Romans, and may even have been brought to Marseilles by the Greeks before that. As the name suggests, its berries are tiny and produce wines with elegantly floral aromatics.

If you enjoyed our Musqué try our fragrant, rare Aleatico or traditional rosé Tinta .

Rimfire Aleatico
Made in vin gris style, this superb white wine is crafted from Rimfire's deliciously fragrant rare Aleatico red Muscat grapes. Our Aleatico is a medium-dry wine exhibiting delicate, spicy perfume, complimented by floral and citrus characters on the palate. There is just a hint of salmon-pink colour derived from the dark skins of the berries. Rimfire Aleatico works well with Asian influenced dishes. Enjoy it young and gently chilled.

Aleatico is an ancient Italian red grape variety thought by some to be a dark-berried mutation of the classic Muscat à Petits Grains. Others consider Sangiovese to be the more logical ancestor . However, DNA testing has not conclusively proven its lineage. In the Rimfire vineyard, Aleatico produces genuinely delicious grapes. They make great eating, but even better wine. Rimfire's Aleatico is crafted in vin gris style – as a white wine from a red grape – a wine style for which we are well-known.

If you enjoyed Rimfire Aleatico, try our traditional rosé Tinta or the delightfully aromatic Muscat à Petits Grains varietal Musqué.

Rimfire Sangiovese

Crafted entirely from Sangiovese fruit from the Rimfire vineyard, this wine is pleasingly typical of the Sangiovese style produced in Tuscany . Careful oak management has ensured the essential savoury Italian spice and earthy berry flavours shine through. Light and dry with spicy raspberry and blackberry characters, this wine shows vibrant fruit, integrated tannins and excellent length. A great red for warm evenings or, alternatively, match this wine with Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.

Sangiovese is the most widely planted variety in Italy , making its greatest wine in the Tuscan hills. An ancient Italian wine grape known also as “the blood of Jove”, Sangiovese is believed to have been grown by the Etruscans around Florence about 2500 years ago. The Rimfire vineyard is home to some 1400 Sangiovese vines, the first of which were planted in 1998.

If you enjoyed our Sangiovese try Rimfire's classy rosé Tinta or Cabernet Franc.

Rimfire Cabernet Franc

Rimfire's Cabernet Franc is known for its soft tannin and medium body. The nose is full of black pepper, capsicum and bright berry fruit with a deep, herbaceous undertone. The blend of earthy, generous fruit notes is complemented further by the wine's full, soft tannin. The lingering finish reveals layers of leather and warm savoury oak. For something different, try Cabernet Franc with vegetable quiche, roasted turkey or crusty French breads.

A revered French black grape variety, Cabernet Franc is much blended and overshadowed by the more widely recognised Cabernet Sauvignon. At Rimfire, wine produced from our Cabernet Franc grapes has the intense flavours of Cabernet Sauvignon without the overpowering tannins, allowing it to be enjoyed almost immediately - without waiting years for the tannins to soften. This wine is bottled as a single varietal in limited quantities.

If you enjoyed our Cabernet Franc try Rimfire's medium bodied Sangiovese. For a fuller bodied style of wine, try our multi-award winning blend – Rimfire Cabernets.

Rimfire Ruby Cabernet

This is a wine of significant quality. With excellent structure and tight tannins, this full bodied Ruby Cabernet displays upfront herbaceous capsicum and fresh mint characters against a soft background of black pepper, warm spice and nicely integrated oak. Rich and ripe, it drinks well now but is a definite cellaring proposition for seven or so years.

A modern red wine grape variety, Ruby Cabernet was bred in California in 1949 by combining Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignan in an attempt to combine Cabernet characteristics with Carignan productivity and heat tolerance. Although designed to yield claret-like wines from hot regions, Ruby Cabernet is often hard to source as a straight varietal wine outside its native home. At Rimfire, this wine is crafted entirely from Ruby Cabernet fruit from the estate vineyard.

If you enjoyed our Ruby Cabernet try Rimfire Cabernets – a rich blend of Cabernet fruit from the vineyard – or Rimfire Cabernet Sauvignon.

Rimfire Touriga Nacional

Touriga Nacional is an extroverted, flamboyant wine boasting huge ripe tannins, concentrated berry fruit characters and a rich, earthy background entwined with tobacco and mocha flavours. It is an enormous, chewy red that should cellar for 10 years or more – after which the tannins will soften considerably. Rimfire's Touriga Nacional has a real aura of exclusivity around it - it's virtually impossible to find this grape variety crafted as a table wine elsewhere in Australia .

Touriga is native to the Douro Valley in Portugal , where it is the most revered vine variety for making the finest of ports. The vine is vigorous and robust, but extremely low-yielding, resulting in deep-coloured, very tannic, concentrated wines. Rimfire's first Touriga Nacional vines were planted in 1998. Excited by progress of the vines and the promising character of the fruit, more vines have since been introduced to the vineyard.

Rimfire Graciano

The Graciano grape originates from the Rioja region of northern Spain and over the last 100 years has almost disappeared because of the high cost of producing wine from such low yielding vines. It is the wine lovers' loss as from this grape wines of stunning quality can be made.

The Graciano at Rimfire has settled in as if it were its natural home, producing wines with deep hues of garnet. The nose exhibits aromas of rich fruit cake, spicy plums, cherry, and blackcurrant. These carry through to the palate and are joined with savoury spices.

If you enjoyed our Graciano try Rimfire Touriga Nacional or Rimfire Cabernet Sauvignon

Rimfire 1893 - Currently Out Of Stock - watch this site for new release details

Crafted from Rimfire's unique white wine grape variety, this wine has captured the imaginations of wine-lovers everywhere. As flavoursome as it is dry, Rimfire 1893 exhibits delicate citrus aromas reflected by subtle lemon, lime and grapefruit characters on the palate. The crisp acidity makes Rimfire 1893 a perfect match to Australian seafood and summer salads. Truly intriguing, 1893 is one of Rimfire's most sought after wines.

1893 is an unidentified white grape that dates back to the region's historic vineyard planted by the first settlers. Soon after Rimfire was established in the mid 1990s, a lone, very old vine was found growing in a nearby paddock - in almost the exact same location the historic vineyard was planted more than a century earlier. Unable to identify the unusual variety, Rimfire forwarded samples to the Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI). The results of DNA testing confirmed what Rimfire suspected all along: it was truly a mystery variety with no known DNA match on the vine databank.

If you enjoyed Rimfire 1893 , try our crisp lively Colombard or fresh citrus toned Unoaked Chardonnay
