Rimfire Winery Specialist Wine Makers of Rare, Historic and Wonderful Wines.

For almost two decades visitors have made the journey to Rimfire to explore a fascinating world of wine. Premium rare wine varietals such as Sangiovese, Graciano, Aleatico, Touriga Nacional and other exciting natives of Tuscany , Portugal , France , Italy and Spain are a amongst what has made Rimfire Winery such a well known and well loved wine producer.

Described by some as bold and adventurous, Rimfire, the oldest winery on the Darling Downs, is a gateway to an exotic wine world. At Rimfire we successfully transport our visitors through a fascinating sensory adventure, led by trained, knowledgeable staff, all of whom share a genuine love of wine.

At Rimfire, creativity, innovation and enjoyment work hand in hand with a firm commitment to providing a quality product. It is this that has earned Rimfire Winery a reputation Australia wide as one of the industries most exciting producers of rare, wonderful wines.

Tony Connellan established Rimfire as a winery in 1992, with the first release of wines made available to the public in 1995. Rimfire as a family owned and operated business is much broader that just a winery cattle production is also a large part of the family operation.

Tony's son Peter Connellan completed his tertiary Agricultural Studies in the 1990s and oversees the cattle breeding and general farm management of Rimfire. Peter, along side Tony established the Rimfire vineyard with the first vine plantings undertaken in 1990 - his interest in vineyard operation and general wine production continues alongside his many other duties at Rimfire

Eldest daughter Michelle, with university degrees in the education field visited home for a short sojourn in the early 1990s and caught the wine bug. Following the opening of the Rimfire Cellar Door in 1995, and some additional studies in wine related areas, Michelle took over the management of the Cellar Door and the related branches of marketing and sales. Michelle established and also manages the successful Rimfire mail order Wine Club which extends Rimfire's Cellar Door service to customers throughout Australia.

Younger daughter Louise, following university degrees in business like wise fell in love the business of making wine and went on to further her qualifications- becoming a professional wine maker. Louise took over the production of wine at Rimfire and has also worked several international vintages in California, New Zealand and Canada.

In June 2008 Tony handed over the cellar keys to this new generation who will continue to redefine and grow Rimfire as a specialist wine producer - where an even greater concentration of the production of our rarer red varieties has already begun.

The demand by our customers to arrange for their Rimfire wines to be home delivered through Rimfire's Wine Club and Mail Order services has grown enormously in the last few years, although the familiar laughter from our Cellar Door can still be heard across the valley each Friday and Saturday.

Many of our customers know our outrageous, fun loving Margaret whose legacy of Cellar Door laughter and a genuine love of food and wine reigns supreme - even after a decade or more working at Rimfire. Margaret and Michelle are together the most familiar faces at the Rimfire Cellar Door, and look forward to seeing you soon.
